D400 - Two Net 1-1 in Two Circles - C U18 F

Key Points:
In a tight area practice role one, individual offensive skills in a 1-1 and defender work on role 3 individual defensive skills. Protect the puck and try to score. Defender stay on net side with stick on the puck. Short shifts.

Description:
1. Two nets on goal line aligned with dots.
2. Alternate red then blue play offense and defense.
3. Extra players stand around circle and keep puck in play passing back to attacker.
4. Coach pass to attcker to start and when puck out of play.
5. Option stand red-blue-red blue and pass with the attakcer or temmate.
6. 15' shifts.

DT400 - Two Net 3-3 - Pass Across to Transition - C U18 F

Key Points:
Play 3-3 in each side of the zone. One team has a player at the point on each side. Transition by defenders passing the puck across to a teammate on the other side. team with point player is on offense.
Play either 60" shifts or keep the game going and players change on their own.

Description:
1. Offensive team has one at point and two low.
2. Three defenders cover the two low attackers.
3. Attackers can give and go with teammates across ice.
4. Play one minute shifts or players rotate in on their own.
4. Pass to point before you can score.
5. Defenders transition by passing to teammates on other half.

Players go end to end using one puck doing 3-0 breakouts and then pass directly to the goalie and then rim the puck and the goalie gets the puck off the boards and passes to the D.

Description:
A
1. Red F 1-2, D1 skate and F1 pass to the golie.

3. D1 pass to F1 or F2 when switch with D3.
4. F1 or F2 pass to goalie and switch with F3-F4.
5. G pass to D2 who passes to F3 or F4.

T2 - PP Breakout Drop Options and 1-3-1 - U20 M

Key Points:
Run two drop back options. Both have the point man pick up the puck behind the net. A double swing on each side and two wings stretching in the neutral zone on each side.

Description:
1. Dump the puck down to the far end.
2. One wing stretch in neutral zone each side.
3. Point pick up puck and skate between dots.

Option One:- Pass back to F1 or F2 trailing.
4. F1 or F2 can pass across or carry puck into the zone.

Option Two
5. Point pass to a wing who passes back to either F1 or F2.
6. In both options F1 can pass across to F2 or carry puck in.
7. Try to score on rush

T2-4 - D100 - OZ Faceoff-5-4 - U20 M

Key Points :
Start with a faceoff and then go live. In this example they move into a 1-3-1 power play set and defend with a 1-1-2 push down. On a faceoff loss the C and other forward go out to the point and the two D stay low.

Description:
1. Start with an offensive zone faceoff.

3. PP faceoff loss outnumber pk to regain the puck.
4. Play full ice 5-4 using the teams pk and pp structure.

T3 -1-2 Instruction -Stick Lift-Box Out - C U18 F

Key Points:
Go over the stick lift, boxing out and 1-2 defensive support.

Description:
1 . 1 - 2 if B1 is beat then B2 check R1 quickly and B1 suipport from net side.
2. Play out the 1.2 situation.

Angle and Stick Lift
Approach at back shoulder, inside leg in front, skate through the hands, lift stick, take puck and escape with hard strides to open ice.

Box out attacker going to the net.
Skate backward between attacker and net with a tight gap. Seal attacker stick to the outside to prevent tips and block their way to the net, tie up attacker stick so they can't get rebounds, then look for the puck.

T4 - Penalty Kill 1-3 Rotation and Low Press - U18 M

Key Points:
In this pk F1 pressure down ice inside the far blue line. In neutral zone F1 be at top of diamond, D1 below in middle, D2 wide lane F2 other wide lane. Set up with F1 to mid point, F2 behind, D1-D2 low. Puck at hash move into a low press.

Description:
1. F1 forecheck to far blue line.
2. F2-D2 cover wide lanes D1 middle lane low in a neutral zone diamond
3. Pressure puck at blue line to cause offsides.
4. F1 pressure pass to a flank either side.
5. If PP sets up at has PK with a low press, S1 on puck and a 3-3 low with F2 covering points.
6. If puck passed back to point F1 follow if possible or if too far F2 and F1 switch and F2 is now high.
7. Sticks in passing lanes, block shots, be aggressive when puck not under full control.

Key Points:
Strong side forward F1 sweeps down from point coverage to forcing the attacker on the half wall while denying pass back to point with stick. F1 will stay on offensive D1 if he skates across blueline and sweep if puck goes low again on opposite side.
This is the first part of this penalty kill. F2 will switch with F1 if the puck is passed back to the mid point.

Description:
1. F1 cover point and deny D-D pass.
2. F1 forece F at half boards-stick deny pass to point.
3. F1 stay on D if he skates into the middle.
4. F1 pressure F at hash if puck is passed down.
5. PK rotate into a Low Press when puck is at the hash.

Two players race hard for the loose puck and protect it with the body. Drive to net, shoot, follow shot. Defender stay on defensive side with stick on the puck. Box out after shot. Both race for new puck and winner is the attacker.

T2-4 - 5-4 - Specialty Team Sequence - Rugby and Drop BO - U18 M

Key Points:
Great way to practice attack options without then with defenders. You could do face-off plays, then dump down and practice both breakouts and forechecks. Video has defenders on ice ready to jump in. I like the way the pro's do it and players jump in from box.

Description:

1. Start with an offensive zone face-off and run one option 5-0.
2. Breakout from the far end vs. penalty killers 5-4.
3. Use controlled breakouts for each group.
4. Penalty killers come off the bench to defend against the breakout.
5. Power play versus penalty kill.
6. Practice both the drop back and rugby breakout.

Practice pass to point then go to net. to tip and screen, D box out. Breakout and 2-2 with back pressure making it a 2-3.. Defenders regain the puck and breakout and attack the other direction.

Key Points:
Focus is attacker use cut backs and fakes to protect the puck and drive to the net. Defender must keep toe caps facing the attacker, stick on the ice and on the puck and free hand on attackers lower back. Box out and seal stick to the outside on the shot and control stick on the rebound.

1. Attacker one protect puck along the boards.
2. Defender stay net side with toe caps forward, stick on the puck and free hand on the lower back.

C500 1-1 - Race for Puck - Protection Battles - C U18 W

Key Points:
Race to touch boards with stick then get inside position and battle for the puck. Protect the puck with your body and reach. Defender get stick on the puck, use stick lifts and work to gain possession. Toe caps face the puck.

Description:
1. Partners line up at about the dot.
2. Puck is placed at near the players.
3. On whistle race to touch the boards with stick then reace for the puck.
4. First player protect the puck while other player fight to take it away.
5. Play about ten seconds.
6. Have a contest 2 of 3 or three of 5.
7. Move puck along boards and race for it.

Key Points:
D pass to the stretching forward at the far blue line. Second forward support from behind to either get a touch back pass or a chip in. Attack the net then get a new puck and pass to D1 and one F screen and other go to net for a shot pass or rebound. Can also do this drill with one D.

Description:
1. Coach one spot puck for D1.
2. D1 pass to D2.
3. D2 quick up to F1 at the far blue line.
4. F1 either touch back to F2 or chip the puck in.
5. F1-F2 attack and get a shot on net-rebound.

T2 - B5 - 3-1 Cycle-Pass-Rotate-Shoot - U18 M

Key Points:
Olay at Triangle Offense with closest player on the puck, second closes low support and third closest mirror in the high slot. Skate away from pressure and pass to an open player while the triangle rotates so there is always an F3 high.

Description:

Part One
1 F1 sakte up the wall and bass below the goal line.
2. F2 drive behind net with the puck and pass to F1-F3.
3 Three F rotate in two low one high triangle.
4 Shoot and crash net for a rebound.

Part Two
1. F1-F2 low and F3 high slot triangle.
2. F1 skate up wall and scissor to F3.
3. F1 replace F3 high in triangle.
4. F3 pass to F1-F2 or go to net for a shot.

* Coach always pressure F1 to start the drill.

T2-4 - 2-2 - Join 3-3 - 5-5 - U18 M

Key Points:
Work on a full ice 3-3 and a one zone 2-2 and then the 2 F and 2 D join the 3-3 rush at the other end. Play 5-5 and then sprint back to the original blue line. Coaches can focus on the offensive and defensive roles in the three situations, 2-2, 3-3, 5-5.

Description:
1. Red attack 3-3 full ice.
2. Blue attack 2-2 in zone.
3. Play 3-3 at far end.
4. Blue and Red skate to join the 3-3 rush.
5. Play 5-5
6. Sprint back to far blue line.

T3 - Side-slide-slide – C U18 F

Key Points:
Skate with toe caps facing the attacker and stick on the puck. Be in an athletic position with knees bent and slide on the inside edge so you can load and change directions.

Description:
1. Players slide side to side with toe caps facing the attacker.
2. Stick on the ice and on the puck.
3. Stay defensive side between attacker and net.

B6 - 2-0 x 2 - Skate Inside Dots-Cross Behind - U18 M

Key Points:
Practice skating to the 'Big Ice' between the dots when you get the puck. Create a 2-1 on the widest defender and if they play you pass to the outside for a wide entry into the offensive zone.

Description:
1. Players are on both sides of theice in the corners.
2. Skate across and 1 pass to 3.
3. Number 3 pass to 2 in the middle lane.
4. Number 2 pass wide to 1.
5. Number 1 skate to Big Ice between dots.
6. Number 2 cross behind and get pass from 1.
7. Number 1-2 attack net - shoot - rebound.

T2 - B5 - F1 Get Puck Pass to F2 x 3 Shoot - Give and Go - F1 Shot - U18 M

Key Points:
F1 use deceptive moves vs a coach and pass three times to F3 near the dot. F1 exchange passes with F3 and take a shot from the high slot.. F1 must protect the puck and use both forehand and boackhand passes.

Description:

Part A
1. F3 shoot puck into the coner 3 times.
2. F1 use decptive moves vs. coach and pass to F3.
3. Repeat pass ing to F3 at dot 3 times.

Part B
1. After 3 reps A1 skate toward the blue line.
2. F1 and F3 exchange passes twice.
3. F1skate into the middle lane and shoot from the high slot.
4. F2 and F3 repeat alternating corners.

* Options: Have F2 shoot while F3 spot a new puck. Another idea is to have F1 Red pass to F1 Blue who takes a one timer or catch and release shot.

T2-4 - D1-D2 Race to F1-F2 - F3 Shoot - 3-2 - U18 M

Key Points:
Defenders pick up attackers going to the net for a rebound and then play a low 3-2. Contest is to get on the net side on both offense and defense and defenders tie up sticks in the slot while attackers fight to deep stick free. Attackers rotate in a triangle with two low and one mirror puck high. Drive net, pass behind the net, pass low to high. Two defenders and the goalie work together to make it 3-3 with goalie taking the walk out and shots below bottom of the circle while defenders deny back door and block one timers.

Description:

Part A
1. F3 take a shot from the high slot..
2. F1-F2 go to net for a rebound.
3. D1-D2 skate to meet F1-F2, box out and control their sticks.

Part B

4. Battle for the loose puck.
5. Attackers rotate in a triangle with 2 low and 1 mirror high.
6. Defenders deny back door and breakaway.
7. D1-D2-G play the 3-3 together.
