Hello fellow coaches,

We are three weeks away from our start of our playoffs (Pee Wee's) and I was wondering:
- How much do you skate? How many days do you hit the ice
- Any additional conditioning? Stay with some SAG's or work on team concepts
- Do you do any dryland? Before or after practice - off nights?
- We have 9 games left in that three week span. Do you change lines? Or try to set up your playoff positions?
- Team get togethers - dinners, bonding time, chalk talks etc

Just looking to see what other coaches have going on.

Thanks,
Iceman

Pee Wee travel here. Our Little Caesars playoffs start next week in Michigan.
We have a 4 game round robin. Top 2 teams move to the quarterfinal round.

We still have 3 sheets a week until March 3rd. We have averaged 17 skates a month since September.

We train off ice: stickhandling, passing and shooting 30 minutes twice a week after practice.
We have watched and discussed game video twice in the last 2 weeks instead of training off ice.
It was not overly productive. Attention spans were too short. We are staying with the off ice skill work.

We have stuck to skating, passing, shooting skills and SAGs in practices. We have gradually increased the SAG
portion of practice to this point. We still need skill work. All of our team concepts are learned thru SAGs.

Last weekend, we moved two stronger defensemen up to forward and moved a struggling winger back to D for two games. We wanted to see if it added more offensive punch than it hurt us defensively. We liked the results and are rolling with the switch thru the playoffs. The new defenseman played well and was excited for the switch. The forwards scored as expected. We scored 7 goals in each game against a team we had split with during the regular season.

Tony, it sounds like your adjustment moving the 2 D to F and the F to D worked if you are scoring 7 goals a game. Good luck in the playoffs.
