Tom,

This is the best Hockey Coaching resource on the web...by far. Thanks for your Daily Drill posts. They really get my imagination working.

If you don't mind, I'd like to share some modifications to your C3 1 on 1 drill at # 28 reply in the Daily Drill 3 post that I've come up with. I've learned so much from you that I want to give back.

Set-up

Move the Forwards back to the Hash marks. Defence as you have them, at the blueboards.

Mechanics

On the whistle, F1 drives seam for shot as D1 slides across blueline, receives pass from D2 and shoots. F1 tips or rebounds.

After point shot both D1 and F1 regroup with D2 from opposite end. D2 makes D to D pass to D1 who passes to F1.

There are many options with which to finish.

Options

1. F1 goes for second shot. D1 follows up, receives pass from original D2 and shoots a second point shot with F1 in front.

2. 1 vs 1...After regroup, D1 plays F1 from opposite end 1 on 1.

3. Add F2 on regroup for 2vs 0 or 2 vs 1.

4. On second shot from F1, F2 attacks D1 with F1 backchecking.

These are a few options to consider. Hope they help.

Thanks Tom.

Good modifications Paulie,

You can do this sort of thing with most drills, Add a pass, a player, a shot, a regroup etc. to enhance the drill. You should download the technicoach program so you can draw them out suing international symbols.

Just looked at the site stats and by Wednesday we should get to 500 000 hits. Pretty good since we had to restart when we were just about at a million.
