I'm trying to set-up some fun spring time hockey for U9 hockey players in my area., and would like to have it similar to Perry Pearn's 3 vs. 3 Hockey camps. Not sure on how the camp is set-up, is it cross ice or half ice, what are the rules? Would love to hear comments from all. Thank you. Keep up the good work Tom, it was nice to see the picture of the girls hockey team, I feel like I know them! Love the diary of the Season.

It is two one net games at once half ice. The extra players wait no more than a stick length from the red line.

Here are the rules I saw him use.

-4 teams of 8 players.
-ref for each game.
- score keepers for each game. - reff reports goals and assists.
Round Robin format
1-4
2-3

2-4
1-3

3-4
1-2

Warm up with skill drills for 20-30 minutes.

- start with 8-10 minute games. Both use the same clock.
- progress to a 20 min. warm up and 12 min. games.

Rules:
- 3 on 3
- Rotation: Attack-Defend-Breakout-Rest.
- example: White attack vs. Black. On a goal or if the black defenders clear the zone with the puck they pass to the team mates waiting near the Red LIne.
- The three new blacks attack vs. the 3 original white attackers.
- White resting players are in the front of the line.
- everyone must be onside before the new black attackers can cross the blue line or else the whites get the puck and attack vs. the black who went in off side.
- on penalties the offending team play short handed for one rotation.

They would post the stats after each game which adds a lot of interest.

That is how it runs.
-----------------------------------
Another 3-3 is full ice and the players change on their own.
- call penalties and offsides like in the Perry Pearn. Also keep score.
- scoring team gets the puck out of the net and attacks the other way as quickly as possible while the team who was scored on must touch the red line before they can defend.

Player love this game.

I see, same as the drill, my Novice team is just starting to use the attack, defend, rest. and are really enjoying it.

On the 3-3 full ice game you mention above, the scoring team goes back on offence agaist the other goal?
----__________
Yes - score and get the puck out of the net as quickly as possible and attack the other direction.
Play games to 3 and serie 2 of 3 or 3 of 5. Or some other score.
